About the client
A firm dedicated to the microfinance sector is leading a movement to drive greater economic growth in the financial sector by bringing Mexican women into these schemes, historically excluded from the credit world.
The company began in 2010 with a branch in Atlacomulco, State of Mexico, and currently has a presence in 23 states across the country.
Its motivation lies in «the possibility of creating many job opportunities for many people and, at the same time, providing productive capital to women who have the skills to support their families but often lack the resources.»
Needs
The client needs to improve delinquency and loss indicators for the loans granted. To achieve this, the credit behavior is analyzed, but it is also necessary to consider external factors that influence and are not found in official bureau databases.
Solution
Multivariate models will be implemented to evaluate aspects such as payment behaviors, new credit applications, client addresses, and climatic conditions by geographic area during different times of the year (e.g., floods), among other variables.
Results
With the applied models, the aim was to reduce the probability of delinquency or loss for clients linked to climatic and geographic conditions that directly affect their ability to pay.
