Claro Video's Seamless Modernization Journey with AWS
The company stands at the forefront of media management excellence, embracing efficiency, resilience, agility, and sustainability.
About this success story
One of the largest companies in internet, mobile communication, and on-demand content access in Latin America, managing hundreds of thousands of customers throughout the region and experiencing growing data traffic year after year. Within their business portfolio, they offer a subscription and on-demand rental service for movies, series, documentaries, and concerts, available to watch on any type of device at any time.
Claro Video set out to assess its media content object store and management system, focusing on media file types, sizes, and the capacity of the current Isilon storage system. The goal was to identify suitable AWS S3 storage classes for different types of media.
This involved the selection of AWS DataSync for data transfer, planning for network bandwidth, and implementing security measures tailored to media content.
The Migrate Phase was executed by Nubiral, detailing the migration process for transferring media files to AWS S3. The focus was on ensuring minimal downtime and maintaining data integrity. The plan included steps for handling large media files and real-time monitoring of the migration process.
Claro and Nubiral focused on integrating and optimizing migrated media content within AWS. This included setting up AWS Media Services for processing and AWS CloudFront for content distribution.
The migration encompassed a comprehensive list of media types, including video, images, and audio files. This compiled list provided specifics on data volume, file types, and highlighted any unique challenges successfully addressed during the migration process.
The entire project, covering the migration and modernization of the media content object store and management system, reached completion and entered production in AWS S3. This milestone signifies the successful transition of all media files, seamless integration with AWS services, and the finalization of data management and security protocols.
As Claro Video concludes its transformative migration and modernization project, the obtained results showcase a paradigm shift in media content management, efficiency, and resilience. The migration to AWS has significantly improved staff efficiency. Streamlined media management processes have reduced manual tasks, making it easier for the team to access and manage media files. This enhancement in productivity not only saves time but also allows staff to focus on more strategic and creative aspects of content management.
Claro Video benefits from enhanced reliability and uptime with AWS services. The improved disaster recovery capabilities and streamlined data backup processes ensure operational resilience. These measures contribute to the platform’s robustness, providing a secure and consistent experience for users, even in challenging scenarios.
The adoption of AWS has empowered Claro Video with unparalleled business agility. Quicker deployment of new media content, effortless scaling for varying workloads, and rapid responses to market changes are now integral aspects of the company’s operational strategy. This newfound agility positions Claro Video to stay ahead in the dynamic landscape of media and entertainment.
In conclusion, Claro Video’s journey to AWS has not only achieved the targeted migration and modernization but has also unlocked a new era of possibilities. The company stands at the forefront of media management excellence, embracing efficiency, resilience, agility, and sustainability. As technology evolves, Claro Video is well-positioned to continue delivering innovative and seamless media experiences to its ever-growing audience.
