Cloud Smart: la nueva evolución en arquitecturas de nube

Cloud Smart: la nueva evolución en arquitecturas de nube
Apoyado en los principios de Cloud First y fuertemente impulsado por los entornos multinube, este nuevo concepto apela a un rediseño para que el funcionamiento de cada carga de trabajo sea óptima y no haya gastos innecesarios.
¿Una nube óptima e inteligente? Esa es la propuesta de Cloud Smart, el nuevo paradigma que se impone entre las organizaciones que desean seguir extrayendo valor del universo cloud. Pero el camino que nos trajo hasta aquí fue largo y no exento de complejidades.
Al principio fue la nube, con sus premisas básicas: costos controlados, escalabilidad sin límites, flexibilidad absoluta, pago por uso, acceso democratizado a las nuevas tecnologías, agilidad, continuidad del negocio y resiliencia operacional pase lo que pase.
La pandemia, además de permitir a las empresas corroborar con creces este último punto -buena parte de la economía mundial siguió funcionando gracias al trabajo remoto y al acceso ubicuo a los datos corporativos- promovió una aceleración sin precedentes de migraciones a la nube. Los gastos en la nube para 2025 serán, según la consultora de mercado IDC, de US$1,3 billones, contra los poco más de US$700.000 millones de 2021.
Para tener en cuenta, el COVID-19 obligó a muchas empresas a migrar de manera compulsiva para poder mantenerse operativas. Recién después de un tiempo de experimentar el valor obtenido, estas organizaciones se decidieron a reforzar sus inversiones en la nube.
Migración cuasi obligatoria
Teniendo en cuenta lo mencionado anteriormente, podemos decir que de esta manera se consolidó la idea de Cloud First: ya no se evalúa si se migra a la nube o no. Ni siquiera se piensa qué debe subirse a plataformas cloud. Sencillamente, se decide que todo el negocio se fundamentará sobre esta tecnología. Otra reconocida consultora, Gartner, asegura que para 2025 más del 85% de las empresas adoptará este principio y que las herramientas nativas en la nube constituirán la única manera de ejecutar completamente las estrategias digitales. Eso no es todo: para ese año, más del 95% de las nuevas cargas de trabajo se implementará en plataformas nativas, cifra que en 2021 fue de apenas el 30%.
Uno de los habilitadores para que este modelo pudiera plasmarse en la realidad fue el concepto de multicloud: la capacidad de las empresas de seleccionar la arquitectura de nube que mejor se adaptara a sus características, sus necesidades, el desempeño requerido o incluso la industria a la que pertenecen. Las nubes privadas -es decir, con recursos dedicados exclusivamente a la organización- y las nubes públicas -infraestructuras disponibles para empresas y usuarios en general- fusionaron sus mejores características en la nube híbrida. Los niveles originales de flexibilidad, eficiencia en el manejo de cargas de trabajo, desempeño y escalabilidad -en particular ante variaciones muy drásticas- alcanzaron un nuevo nivel.
Proteger el largo plazo
Además, con este modelo se protege el negocio en el largo plazo: a diferencia de lo que podría ocurrir si toda la operatoria del negocio se concentrara en una única nube, no existen aquí riesgos de que el crecimiento se vea limitado por las características de un proveedor en particular, de que determinadas aplicaciones más exigentes funcionen por debajo del rendimiento ni de quedar “presos” de los caprichos de una empresa que puede variar las condiciones de precio o los términos negociados aprovechándose de una posición dominante.
Cambiar de proveedor, en un modelo multicloud, es sencillo y, por definición, una operación que se realiza prácticamente en tiempo real. En el corto plazo, la disponibilidad de las aplicaciones tampoco depende de que el proveedor sufra algún tipo de falla o problema.
Hoy estamos ante el siguiente paso evolutivo: Cloud Smart. Se trata del nuevo escalón que necesitan alcanzar las empresas para mantenerse competitivas y con un diferencial en el mercado en este nuevo escenario en el que prácticamente no hay organización que no tenga una estrategia en la nube.
Cloud Smart para el futuro
Cloud Smart capitaliza el enfoque Cloud First y propone una inmersión más profunda en el mundo de las tecnologías inteligentes -automatización, inteligencia artificial, herramientas analíticas-, las estructuras de datos -probablemente sea necesario avanzar con un proceso de modernización– y las arquitecturas disponibles para simplificar la migración entre proveedores y maximizar el uso de los esquemas multinube al punto de que sea perfectamente transparente para el usuario y para la organización, sin gastos innecesarios, contrataciones “por las dudas” ni servicios que funcionen por debajo de lo óptimo.
El futuro se presenta más inteligente. Y el modelo de nube tiende a adaptarse a ese escenario.
